I wish you a wonderful Thursday! I hope that you’re hydrating, getting some fresh air outside, connecting with others, and just taking care of yourself altogether. I hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter, as I enjoyed finding the gems of knowledge and hope you find them useful as well.
My Thought for the Week 💭
Think back to a moment when you created something for the first time ever and it was absolutely, positively PERFECT.
If you were able to think of something, good for you, but for the rest of (and probably the majority) of us, that usually does not happen.
Especially when it comes to being a creator anyways.
When I look back to my first few podcast episodes I absolutely cringe on the inside, so much that it hurts. The audio wasn’t the best, I asked questions back to back like a robot, and I was very shy and reserved with my guests.
That being said, I’m grateful that the first few episodes are crap because they were learning experiences I can look back on now, and for the years to come.
Even in my previous newsletter I expressed how I wasn’t the proudest of my recent podcast episodes yet they’re 10x better than when I was starting out.
Embrace your crappy work especially in the beginning because granted as you improve, you’ll consider that work to be crappy too probably just like I do with my podcast.
So I challenge you to embrace the crap. Embrace the cringe. Always be improving. There’s always something new to learn from the things we create from the start to the present.
Wishing you an amazing weekend,
Miko
Tricks and Tips Learned💡
Do your research! 🔍
Oh how I wish I could say that I just easily come up with ideas for videos, record them, and quickly edit but at times it can be a bit more involved….for good reasons.
If you’re trying to push your content out to a specific audience or a pocket niche or you just want to ride the hype train of popular trends, you need to do your research.
This is a topic that can be discussed across many future newsletters, but for this one specifically I’m specifically going to be talking about Title and Thumbnail research for YouTube.
You can have the best content out there, but it won’t matter if nobody clicks on your video because of your title and thumbnail.
What I’ve been doing is using TubeBuddy to do a bunch of keyword research to see what’s popular and what people are searching relevant to my idea. In which after I’ve created the perfect title for my video, I then view other thumbnails related to that title and see how I can make my video stand out similarly.
Creator Quote of the Week 🗣️
“Your 9-5 is your investor” - From Earn Your Leisure Podcast
I was watching an episode of the Earn Your Leisure podcast featuring a podcaster that became a full-time podcaster making over $250k a year and was really inspired by this quote as someone that aspires to do content creation full-time in the near future.
Of course I love creating, but I also look at everything I do from the business perspective as well. I view my projects as businesses that need to be invested in because it does take some money to upgrade the quality of what you want to put out for your audiences.
For those of us that want to do this thing full-time, we have to first get our capital from somewhere, and it’s usually our current jobs.
If you want to do content full-time like I do, just keep in mind that your job is your main investor and should be treated as such until you have enough saved up to leave.
